254 people have fallen victim to COVID-19 in Bulgaria in the last 24 hours

During our week-long break from publishing, the situation in Bulgaria has drastically changed. Less and less people are contracting the disease, less people are being admitted to hospitals, more people are recovering, and the number of vaccinated is still increasing. The percent of fully vaccinated has climbed to 25%, and it is still growing. While this might not sound like much, only up until two weeks ago the percentage of fully vaccinated was around 20%.

Sadly, during the last 24 hours the situation has worsened once again, which could be caused by the mass congregations of people during the recent elections. Both the number of new cases and their percentage have risen, although the total number of active cases and hospitalized are decreasing.

Currently, there are more than 108 000 active cases in the country, while there have been 673 000 total confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic. In total, there have been around 3 240 000 vaccines administered.

Out of 37 593 PCR tests conducted, 3 462 have been positive, which adds up to around 9.2% of the tested.

Currently hospitalized are a total of 7 168 people.

760 patients have been admitted to intensive care, while 254 have succumbed to the illness.

4 777 people have recovered.

15 865 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
